HISTORY

The history of human race has been characterized by continuous struggle, struggle for survival, social justice or against racial bigotry. 1982 was a year of struggle for the restoration of the dignity of the origins of Ondo and Ekiti States in Hamburg.

This year earmarked the birth of many Nigerian State Unions in Hamburg among which are Bendel State Students' Union, Imo State Students' Union, Niger-Delta State Union, Ogun State Students' Union, Ondo State Students' Union , Oyo State Students' Union, Rivers State Union and Cross-River State Students Union.

1996, the Federal Government of Nigeria splitted Ondo State to the current Ondo and Ekiti States. But with the Motto: "United we stand divided we fall" the members unaimously agreed to be united as one organisation despite the geographical change back home. The name of the Union was changed to Ondo-Ekiti States Progressive Union of Nigeria Germany (OSPU).

Until the new millenium, the members of Ondo-Ekiti Progressive Union was solely ominated by men.
While the IT-World was struggling and anxiously waiting for the damages the new millennium will cause the entire world, OSPU has realized that the men dominated organization is obsolescent.
OSPU was vigorously and gradually mounting the integration of women into the organization. A landmark event and a new chapter was added to the history of OSPU at the new millenium. Women who are origin of Ondo and/or Ekiti States became members of the organisation.
Membership is now, constitutionally, opened not only to origins of Ondo/Ekiti States but also to persons by virtue of marriage and/or nationalization.
